Started from a single business department with a few professors and students dated back to 1921, the School of Economics has now developed to be one of the finest business schools in China. Growing with the ups and downs of this period of history, it has always been witnessing and studying the development of Chinese economy and world economy.

The situation of economic growth in China in recent years makes it possible for it to play an increasingly important role in international arena. Thus it requires the Chinese students majoring in specialties of economics to possess a long-range vision, a comprehensive knowledge and the innovative ability, so as to open up their developing space. As in the world of today, with the acceleration of the trend of globalization, the flourishing revolution of science and technology and the fiercer international competition with each passing day, only by actively adapting to the circumstances and taking the initiative, can one have in hand the key to a decisive victory.

In order to meet the needs of globalization and to cultivate elite comprehensive economic talent, abiding by the university motto of “Pursue Excellence, Strive for Perfection”, the School has been persisting in educational reform all along and has forged distinguishing features. Innovatively, we attach primary importance to doing a good job of “four combinations”, i.e. the complimentary combination of globalization and nativization, of standardization and individualization, of exploiting one's advantages to the full and persisting in innovation and, of academic activities and teaching activities. These innovations have achieved remarkable results, greatly enhancing the teaching quality and research level of the School.

We have also been dedicating ourselves to foreign academic exchange and cooperation, and have successively established interschool ties with a number of universities in Europe and America , and at the same time, have made various types of academic exchanges, such as doing faculty or student exchange and holding international meeting, with universities and schools from Europe, America, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions.
