Department of Planning and Statistics was established in 1950 and has now developed into an influential base in China for scientific research and talent cultivation in the fields of statistics, information and investment analysis. The discipline of Statistics has been three times in succession awarded National Key Discipline. There are four well-defined specialties, in line with corresponding programs for doctor and master degrees (as well as post-doctoral programs) in the department, including Statistics, National Economics, Quantitative Economics and Economic Information Management as well as the other two courses for undergraduate, i.e. Statistics and Information Management & Information System. It has set up the National Economy and Accounting Institute in 1983 and has been equipped with a Computer Lab for Statistic Survey and Analysis.

Department of Planning and Statistics has a strong and well-echeloned teaching staff. It has totally over 30 teachers, including 10 professors, 9 doctoral supervisors and 7 associate professors and 16 teachers with doctor degree, constituting a team of a rational age-structure, with proportionate old, middle-aged and young scholars, headed by academic leaders in respective fields. Prof. Qian Bohai and Prof. Huang Liangwen, famous statisticians and economists in China, are the academic leaders of old generation in the department. They enjoy high prestige in the realm of statistics and economics. In recent years, a group of excellent young and middle-aged teachers in the department are beginning to show their abilities and talents and are growing rapidly.

There are two programs for undergraduate students:
1.Statistics
The specialty of Statistics has two branches: Economic Management Statistics and Investment Decision-Making Analysis.
Major Courses for the both branches: Political Economy, Western Economics, Principles of Statistics, Probability and Mathematical Statistics, Modern Statistical and Analytical Methodology, Statistical Computation and Computer Application, Accounting Public Finance, Money and Banking, International Economics, Econometrics, Market Investigation and Analysis, Economic Forecast and Decision-Making.
Major Courses specific for the branch of Economic Management Statistics: National Economic Statistics, Business Economic Statistics, Sampling Methods.
Major Courses specific for the branch of Investment Decision-Making: Appraisal of Investment Projects, Securities Investment, Real Estate Investment, Corporate Finance, Amalgamation of Businesses, etc.

2.Information Management and Information System
Major Courses:Economics, Modern Business Management, Computer System and System Software, Data Structure and Database, Management Information System, Computer network, Applied Mathematical Statistics, Operational Research, C++ Programming, Information Storage and Retrieval, Modern Information Analytical Methods, Simulation of Economic Management System, SAS and Decision-Making Support System, Internet and Intranet, Accounting, Public Finance, Money and Banking, International Economics, Econometrics, Market Investigation and Marketing, Production Operation Management, Organization Strategy and Behavior, Information Management and Information Organization, Multi-Media System Design, etc.

1.National Economics (020201)
The predecessor of National Economics was National Economic Planning and Management. It has offered master programs since 1982 and doctoral program since 1999.
Fields of research: 01 National Economic Theory and Method; 02 Industry Investment Analysis; 03 Finance Investment Analysis.
Major Courses: Advanced Microeconomics (I), Advanced Macroeconomics (I), Advanced Econometrics£šI£©, National Economics, Project Investment Decision Analysis, Analyses of Economy and Investment, Investing Economic Theory, Corporate Finance, Human Resource Management , etc.

2. Statistics (020208)
The specialty program of Statistics was founded in 1950, offering master¡¯s programs since 1981 and doctoral program since 1986. It is the only national key discipline in its field.
Fields of research:01 The Statistical Theories and Methods; 02 Economic Management Statistics; 03 Investment Decision-Making Analysis.

3. Quantitative Economics (020209)
The specialty of Quantitative Economics has offered master¡¯s programs since 1982 and doctoral programs since 1999.
Fields of research:01 Applied Econometrics; 02 Experimental Economics; 03 Mathematical Economics.
Major Courses: Advanced Microeconomics (I), Advanced Macroeconomics (I), Advanced Econometrics£šI£©, Game Theory for Economics, Mathematical Economics, Financial Time Series Analysis, etc.

4. Economic Information Management (020220)
The specialty of Economic Information Management has offered both master programs and doctoral program since 2004.

Fields of research:01 Economic Information Resources Management and Analysis; 02 Enterprise Information Engineering and Information Theory; 03 Data Mining.
